Entrepreneurs Fast Track - case study: Ceres Power

Ceres Power Limited (Ceres) was founded in 2001 to commercialise fuel cell technology developed over the previous decade at Imperial College London. Responding to the fact that in supplying electricity to the home from a centralised power station, around two-thirds of the energy in the fuel is lost, the company has developed combined heat and power (CHP) products for residential use, allowing energy to be generated in the house where it is needed.

The Carbon Trust has supported Ceres on a variety of levels over the past nine years, both financially and through provision of advice and expertise. In December 2003 Carbon Trust Investments Limited became a shareholder in Ceres, enabling Ceres to further develop and test its product.
